It is fairly routine for companies to test cosmetics, soap, shampoo, household cleaners, etc. on animals before selling their products. These tests are often extremely painful and can even result in death.  To avoid supporting these companies, look for products with the leaping bunny, which indicates that a product has been certified as cruelty free. Many products will also say things like “not tested on animals” or “no animal testing or ingredients”. Learn more.

woman shoppingWhile most people are aware that fur is cruel, many people don’t realize the intense suffering caused by the leather, wool and down industries.  Every year billions of animals suffer and are killed for their hides (shockingly, many of them are dogs), feathers or wool.  Fortunately, there are plenty of great substitutes for these products that don’t harm animals while also fitting the fashion bill! Whether you’re looking for a warm coat or a durable pair of shoes, there are lots of options to choose from.
