Curt
Kruse, Star 101.5, and his dog Rina will
be our special guests at the bark of
seattle on Aug 1st! |
Curt Kruse is a Seattle-area celebrity and is co-host of the Curt And Corine Show weekday afternoons on Star 101.5. In addition to having a long and illustrious career in radio, Curt is also no stranger to animal welfare. As a long-time supporter of animal welfare groups including PAWS, the Humane Society, and Pasado’s Safe Haven, Curt has championed animal rescue efforts for years.
Curt’s distinguished radio career began in college, where he believed that a job at the university radio station would provide opportunities to play his band’s music on the air. When this proved to be untrue, it didn’t extinguish Curt’s dream of a future in the radio industry. This dream developed into a career where Curt has been on-air all over the country, finally landing in Seattle, WA, in 2001.
Curt is an avid fan of live music and has been in many bands over the years as a singer, guitarist, and drummer. Curt is equally enthusiastic for animal rescue and animal rights, and when he isn’t hosting his popular radio show, he spends time in his Mill Creek, WA, home with his rescued dog, Rina, and his big tank of fish.
Curt also enjoys visiting the Seattle area’s numerous off-leash parks, spending quality time with Rina.
Rina is twelve years old and she has spent many happy and healthy years with Curt. He rescued her from a small, non-profit rescue league in Detroit, Michigan. After rescuing Rina, Curt’s noted that his life changed for the better in “Too many ways to list.”
“Like any member of the family, our pets improve our lives in countless ways every single day,” Curt said. “Actually, all they do is improve your life. It’s their only goal.” At Pasado’s, we couldn’t agree more.
Rina constantly keeps Curt laughing. “Rina rides in the front seat of my little two-seater convertible, which is hilarious. She also likes to chase the laser pointer around - which seems to be more of a thing that cats do - but she LOVES to play "Red Dot.” And when she was younger, we would play hockey, which is basically chasing a ball...except that I would shoot it with a hockey stick...which she would then bite in an act of defiance. I had several chewed up hockey sticks!”

Curt is a strong advocate for adopting pets from local shelters. “I absolutely suggest doing it,” Curt said. “There are so many wonderful animals just waiting to be adopted that would make a great addition to any family. Make adoption your first option!”
We asked Curt what it meant for him and Rina to be Pasado’s special guests at the Bark of Seattle.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of Pasado's Bark of Seattle,” he noted, “and to help get the word out about all of the fine work that is being done at Pasado's Safe Haven. Of course, Rina thinks she's the “belle of the ball" and everyone is going to want to see her... which is probably true!”
Reflecting upon his life with Rina, Curt noted, “I couldn't have known over a decade ago that this little black furball would be such a big part of my life for so many years. And I recognize that I'm not alone in knowing the unconditional love of a dog - in particular, a rescue dog. It's almost as if they realize that they were on "death row" and are even more appreciative that they were saved. Rina is such a great part of the family... and that family goes well beyond my house. She goes to retirement homes and visits with elderly people, who are amazed at how well-behaved she is. It's really something to see their faces light up when Rina comes in for a visit. It’s priceless.”
Thank you, Curt, for sharing your rescue story with Pasado’s. The gratitude and love of a rescued animal is incomparable, and it warms our hearts to know that a rescued dog has impacted your life on such a deep level.
Pasado’s eagerly anticipates the Bark of Seattle and we are delighted to have Curt and Rina as our special guests. If you would like to experience the love of a rescued dog, just like Curt, please click
