Stellar Luna

Beautiful little Luna was a feral cat surviving from the handouts of a kind family. Barely past kittenhood herself, Luna had given birth to a pair of kittens, and when they were just two weeks old, Luna’s milk dried up. A mother’s milk typically adjusts to her kittens’ needs, gradually decreasing as they reach weaning around 6 – 8 weeks of age. Milk can prematurely dry up when a mother isn’t ingesting enough calories, is malnourished, or experiencing other health-related issues. With no milk and two babies who were slowly starving to death, Luna found herself in a difficult predicament.

With wisdom far beyond her years, Luna lovingly placed her babies in the family’s driveway. The family returned the babies to Luna, but Luna gave them back. She knew that she couldn’t help her babies, and her clever solution saved their lives. The family took in the tiny trio and called Pasado’s Safe Haven for rehoming assistance, which we happily provided.

When Luna first arrived at Pasado’s, she was very timid. The feral life offers few opportunities for enriching human interaction, and Luna preferred staying in one area of Misty’s Kitty City. Over time, she because accustomed to people. Her caretakers rearranged the room to encourage Luna to interact with the feline residents, staff, and volunteers. Luna began to interact, learning that she loved to play and even give little love bites.

While Luna’s kittens were at Kitty City, she was vigilant, loving, and attentive. Even though she couldn’t feed them, she was a wonderful mother. Sadly, one of her kittens passed away, but her other kitten was placed in a loving home. Living on the streets is dangerous, especially for infant animals, whose immature immune systems are particularly susceptible to viruses and diseases. Pasado’s supports measures to decrease the number of cats and dogs living on the streets. Click here to read about a successful recent feral rescue

After her kitten was adopted, shy Luna began to socialize. Magoo, one of our other introverted Kitty City residents, has taken quite a shine to this celestial beauty. He often grooms Luna, and their quiet friendship speaks volumes about empathy, kindness, and the power of a shared experience.

Luna is stunningly beautiful, with a petite frame, a lilac gray coat, and sparkling sapphire eyes that can stop you in your tracks. Her heart, intelligence, and attitude are equally amazing, and at two years of age, she has retained her kittenish demeanor.

Luna will make an excellent addition to any family and she would flourish in a home of her own. As a newcomer, Luna is at the bottom of the Kitty City hierarchy. While she loves attention and rubs up against her caretaker’s legs during mealtime, she isn’t assertive in seeking out attention. A calm and quiet home would help this star truly shine. Luna is already house-trained and ready to start her new life.
