Coby & Mamacita
They're so in love!
(But it's time to find them homes).
Coby, left, and Mamacita (telling
secrets!) were rescued from the flood waters in New Orleans during
Hurricane Katrina. They've bonded over the months of living as rescued
dogs - but now, we need to find them a home. Together, or apart from one
another. |
|
 |
Coby, left, with Kim, our
Pasado's event coordinator (in his studly bomber-jacket!) was found as a
stray in the hell of St. Bernard Parish outside New Oeleans. He
desperately swam to our boat as we approached him. He was so scared, he
didn't hesitate to be dragged into the boat. We were strangers to him
yet he knew we were there to save him.
Once back at our triage location, he was
treated for severe malnutrition. He's still skinny, after months of
rehabbing at Pasado's Safe Haven. But he's over the worst.
Coby had Grade 3 heartworm, a severe
diagnosis. He's been through all but one heartworm treatment and then
he'll be 100%. He would have died without this treatment. (He also got
his "bags unpacked" a.k.a. neutered.) |
|
 |
Coby is such a love. He adores going
for a ride in the car, or just being cuddled (with Rita, left, our
Sanctuary Operations Manager). He's young (maybe two-years-old) and
about medium size. But he really likes being a lap dog, if allowed. |

Mamacita,
left, is a face licker. She's an amazing story of survival. She was
found on a roof of a house, while the flood waters washed by her. She
had been there for days when we found her. As soon as she made it into
our boat she drank and drank (smart dogs avoided drinking the toxic
flood waters) and then inhaled the food we gave her. She was a love,
right from the moment we met her. And although we are sure she is
someone's dog, we have yet to find her owner. We think it's time she can
finally get the love she deserves - a home, to call her own.
Please consider opening your home and
heart to one of these Katrina dogs. They've been through so much. They
deserve a future of all the best. E-mail us
here to call one of them
your own! |

(Hey Coby! Maybe someone will take
BOTH of us! Wouldn't that be great?!) |
