The Raceland triage barn was a godsend,
but as the barn filled with animals, we couldn't continue to rescue more
animals without sending those already stabilized to shelters and
individuals. That's when corporations and those who owned private jets
saved the day. Above, Ken loads a jet donated by Cameron
Crowe. As animals flew out, new rescues arrived. The cycle kept on and on,
for weeks. |

Patty & Jimmy Barrier, who own Barrier
Mercedes/Porsche/Audi, donated their corporate jet for a PasadoRescue
life-flight. |

It was amazing to see the interior of this
very fancy jet, covered floor to ceiling in dog and cat kennels and
carriers. |

These little things - so innocent. What
they'd already been through. How we wished we could explain to them why they
were going through one more experience to save them. |

Patty Barrier, who flew with Jimmy, from
New Orleans to Seattle. Oh how that beautiful jet smelled after all
those animals and all those hours! (We sent them a pine air-freshener to
thank them!) |

A big s-t-r-e-t-c-h. How many dogs get to
fly on private jets? T. Boone
Pickens, Dallas oil magnate, also provided flights. He chartered entire
Continental flights that airlifted over a hundred animals per flight for
PasadoRescue to California and other states. Thank goodness for those
who had the means to help in any way they could.
Witness some of the reunions
these generous people made possible between pets and hurricane evacuees,
here! |
