Vets cancelled their own
business at their offices from around the country to help PasadoRescue
during Hurricane Katrina. Some, who returned home, came back again to
help. They just couldn't stay away.. We don't have a webpage large
enough to thank all of the vets, vet techs, and vet assistants who
became PasadoRescuers. But here are a few of the extraordinary people
who touched so many animals' lives...
Dr. Brad Crauer - Washington State
- He was the first vet to come to New Orleans with us. He and his crew
from Redmond Vet Clinic set-up all the protocols to treat incoming
animals. We can never thank him and his team enough for what they did. |

Lauren Spears, Colorado |

|
 |
Illina Berton, DVM
- She treated some of our toughest cases, like this little pup who, in
the end, didn't make it. She never gave up though - she treated every
animal with extraordinary care - and in the end, saved countless lives. |

Here she is after an
unbelievable story of rescue: she had been in the field, rescuing all
day, and at dusk tried to get a dog out from under a house. Finally, the
dog bolted. Now, New Orleans was a ghost town. Everyone was gone. But
the one car that was on the road his the dog square on. "She rolled,
over and over again, for about 50 feet," one PasadoRescuer recalls.
Then, the dog got up and ran under another house, across the street. Dr.
Berton ran after her and literally dragged her out (notice how she's
covered in mud). She and the rescuers then rushed the dog to the nearest
vet that answered their phone - they thought the dog would need
extraordinary treatment. IN the end, she barely had a scratch on her. |

Dr. Dana Bridges -
by trade, an oustanding equine vet - but she rolled up her sleeves,
broke down doors, and saved countless dogs, cats, birds, and hundreds of
other beating hearts. |

 |
Dr. Frank, from
Redwood Vet Clinic (Washington State) took charge of the triage barn in
Raceland and together with his team saved dozens of lives. |
|
|
 |
Careen Maloney
(Canada) had the touch of an angel. She met the animals at a time when
they were skin and bone.

This is just one of the
dogs, left with no food or water for weeks, who Dr. C gently brought
back to life.... |
|
|
Dr. Jill from Houma, Louisiana, a local vet, came to not only
the animals' rescue, but ours as well. She (and her husband Jeff)
worked long hours, without complaint, and saved countless lives.
We wish we had a
photo of Dr. J - if someone knows where one exists, please send it to us
here. She deserves to be
recognized around the world for what she did. |

Dr. Rachel Robinson, from
Redwood Veterinary Clinic in Washington State, took on case after
case in our rescue barn. She didn't stop until every last animal was
provided care. It was amazing to watch someone like her work, without
any regard to how tired or hungry they were. |
|

 |
Carol and James,
vet techs from Redwood Animal Hospital, assisted Dr. Frank in barn
triage. They had so much spirit - they not only helped the animals, but
their fellow rescuers, too. |
|
 |
Amber from Redmond Vet Hospital,
was on the first PasadoRescue team to go into the hot zone. She was
amazing. When she headed for New Orleans, she didn't know what to
expect. She just rolled with the punches and started saving lives, as
soon as she arrived. |

Tracey from Redmond
Vet Hospital. To every veterinary
professional who spent days in our triage barn, to bring life to so
many, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. You made it possible for
these souls to recover and take to the skies in life-saving flights of
mercy...next. |
