PASADO'S SAFE HAVEN AND ANIMAL LAW ATTORNEY
PLAN PRIVATE LITIGATION

If the alleged atrocities reported by former employees of SNBL USA, including the scalding death of a female monkey, are not pursued by the U.S.D.A. or state and local authorities, Pasado's Safe Haven, a national animal welfare organization located in the State of Washington (and situated in the same county where SNBL USA’s employees are reported to allegedly torture animals), in conjunction with animal lawyer Adam P. Karp, founder of the Washington State Bar Association Animal Law Section and adjunct professor of animal law at the University of Washington and Seattle University Schools of Law, will initiate a private criminal action to bring justice to this animal who suffered so horribly, as well as explore other potential private criminal actions against SNBL USA and its employees concerning other alleged mistreatment of lab animals.  For more details about the alleged reported abuses, see KIRO TV.

Pasado's Speaks out

Monkey Boiled Alive at
Research Lab

Just hearing this headline is enough to make anyone shudder or even bring a couple of tears.  A KIRO 7 Investigative team (Seattle, WA) claims that a monkey that was to be used in a drug-product research experiment was boiled alive in a Everett, WA laboratory.  Read more here

It is never easy to comprehend how someone could allow pain and suffering or even purposely hurt helpless animals.  Although this is very hard information to hear and think about, we can never make sure that this never happens again if we decide to protect our own hearts and turn a blind eye to it.

We urge you to watch Kiro 7 news tonight (Friday- Feb 1) at 6pm & 11pm (PST)  or click here to watch online.   Pasado's Safe Haven founder, Susan Michaels will be speaking out about this case.

Here are some comments we have heard from you already -

I live in the United Kingdom and am outraged to learn about the cruel and inhumane treatment of research animals. I cannot bear to watch the news coverage of the apparent boiling alive of a monkey. This is an atrocity. Did you hear in the news this week that a CHIMP has proved he has better recall than the British memory champion. An animal that has a memory must certainly be able to feel. What excruciating and unnecessary pain animals are put through in the name of research is disgusting.  -Melissa A, United Kingdom

It is extremely sad and disturbing to notice that such cats of cruelty are largely being ignored by the USDA. As a taxpayer, I'd like to better understand why the USDA has such a laissez-faire attitude to such heinous crimes and SNBL's operations in the USA. I'd like to know what the USDA is planning to do specifically in this matter and in what timeframe. Companies such as SNBL, should not be allowed to operate in the USA - Period.  If the USDA is incapable of acting on this issue in an urgent manner, I plan to push for congressional intervention. - Sunil S, Kirkland, WA

Talking points for the USDA:

I live in _____ State and am outraged to learn about the cruel and inhumane treatment of research animals.  The public is now aware of what is going on behind closed doors in research facilities.   What action will you be taking to stop this cruelty of research animals and by when?  Will you impose sanctions, and if so what kind?

Thank you, as always for your support and for making the difference in the lives of animals in need.
